Next stop Dubai for Belmont Stakes Winner Sir Winston

Mark Casse decides to train the Belmont Stakes winner for the test in March

2019 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Sir Winston will not race again until the $12-MILLION USD Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates Airline, to be run on March 28 at Meydan International Racecourse.

"We've been invited to the Dubai World Cup and we accepted," said trainer Mark Casse on 4 February.

Sir Winston was sidelined for 6 months after winning the Belmont. The Jazil Stakes at Aqueduct was targeted for his return to dirt, but he was scratched due to bad weather, opting instead for an $80,000 allowance race over a one-turn mile at Aqueduct in which he rallied from last in a field of seven to win by 2 1/4-lengths.

Trainer Casse then tossed plans to run in the 1 5/16-mile Bernardini Stakes at Aqueduct Feb. 29, deciding instead to train up to the 1 1/4-mile Dubai World Cup off the strong effort and super condition.
